Ingredients:
For the rib eye steak:
- 2 rib eye steaks, each weighing 300g
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
For the blue cheese sauce:
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your braai to high heat.
- Brush the rib eye steaks with olive oil and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
- Place the steaks on the braai and cook for 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. For medium rare, the internal temperature should be around 55°C.
- While the steaks are cooking, prepare the blue cheese sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
- Add the heavy cream and blue cheese to the saucepan and stir until the cheese has melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the steaks are done, remove them from the braai and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Serve the rib eye steaks with the blue cheese sauce drizzled on top. Enjoy!
Note: You can also use a grill pan on the stovetop instead of a braai if you prefer.
